The Sound of Unicorns Prancing

Christmas has been busy.

more spoons crafted as presents 

and now Unicorns are on the list

dreaming of making one of these using only upcycled and hand dyed cloth

i have a piece of wool/silk just waiting and some hand  spun wool

lots of fun for little ones
perhaps even a hand carved wooden horn too

I've been spoon carving again.

its been a while

slow spoons are the best

locally sourced

not a power tool in sight.

great acacia and then some honey locust

all pruned by me or friends from our gardens

ethically and locally sourced

The sound of arm chairs ripping

There has been an accident at our house. 

Too much sitting on my favourite chair has worn the ikat fabric through. 

Much musing as to what to do.

I had some vintage japanese kasuri fabric in the stash bought from ziguzagu in Melbourne

This is a first for me 

using a mediaeval spoon shape from the Mary Rose 

made from olive wood - pruned from my backyard

local, sustainable and recycling at its best

best of all its a present

now winging its way back to the original land from whence the design came from
